Fine Arts

Yuba College offers a wide range of classes in the performing and visual arts to suit the needs of our students. Many of the performances and art openings are the result of courses in either the Music, Theatre, Art, or Photography  Department.

Music

In the Music Department, for example, student performers may enroll in the Chamber Choir, the Community Chorus, the Young Persons’ Chorus, the Orchestra, the Jazz Ensemble, the Woodwind Ensemble, or the Symphonic Band and receive credit for study, rehearsal, and performance. In addition, the Music Department offers instruction in areas such as applied voice, piano, woodwind and brass, music theory, ear training, and history.

Theatre

You don’t have to be a theatre major to take a theatre class or participate in our productions. Everyone is welcome. Each semester the theater department offers introductory courses in theatre and film that satisfy transfer and Yuba College graduation requirements.

The theatre department offers a four-semester sequence in Acting and a three-course series in Technical Theatre.  The department produces three productions a year, providing students and community members opportunities to participate as actors or as production team members.

Art

The Art Department offers a variety of classes to serve students of all backgrounds and skill levels. We have classes in several studio hands-on techniques as well as lecture courses in art history, studio classes include Drawing, Painting, Design, Color Theory Commercial Art, Photography, Digital Imaging, Sculpture, and Ceramics.
