Yuba College is excited to continue another year of the Yuba College Public Events Series, which will brings professional and diverse events to the Yuba College Theatre, 2088 North Beale Road, Marysville, CA.

The series kicks off on Saturday, August 23 with Jim Anderson & the Rebels as Elvis. Jim Anderson & the Rebels has been performing in Washington, Nevada, all over California to sold out venues. They have been touted by Lifelong Elvis Fans as, "The Most Authentic Tribute to Elvis Presley and His Music to Date!" Jim performs a Tribute to Elvis's Music, that is as energetic as they come. The group has recorded their first album which is a compilation of songs previously recorded by Elvis. These songs were recorded during their live shows from 2013. They are looking forward to headin' to the Studio and recording their first Country and Gospel Album, and also a follow-up Album of Elvis Music, in 2014. They are crowd favorites everywhere they perform and have built a significant following in a short amount of time. They travel and perform anywhere in the world. The group consists of Jim Anderson, a five piece instrumental group, and back up harmonies.

The next concert on Saturday, October 25 features the San Francisco Guitar Quartet. Founded in 1997, the San Francisco Guitar Quartet has established itself as a dynamic force in the guitar world through its ground breaking concerts and recordings. They are committed to presenting new music â€" coalescing classical, world, and improvisatory musical traditions.

The members of the SFGQ, Patrick O'Connell, Jon Mendle, Matthew Fish, and Roberto Granados, have each distinguished themselves as recording artists and chamber  musicians through their national and international touring and CD releases. Their achievements include a tour with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, First Prizes in the Sierra Nevada International Guitar Competition and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Guitar Concerto Competition, appearances on NPR's "From the Top," and performances at Carnegie Hall.

The SFGQ has performed internationally in Guam, Taiwan, and Germany and have appeared throughout the United States in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Hampshire, Illinois, Missouri, California, and Oregon. They have been featured performers in such festivals as the Northwest Guitar Festival, University of Texas Guitar Festival, La Guitarra California Festival, and Pasadena's Guitarra del Mar series. They have performed for San Francisco's Omni Series and have appeared on NPR and the syndicated radio shows West Coast Live and Classical Guitar Alive!

Comedians Mark G and Mike E. Winfield take the stage on Saturday, September 20. Opener Mark G, a quick witted, personable comedian who is genuinely funny and at ease behind the microphone. Mark G has performed at all the major clubs nationwide. He is known for his relatable comedy and audiences feel like they are spending time with a friend when he performs.

Mark G spends most of his time traveling around the United States and abroad  performing. He currently lives just outside Sacramento, California and has performed as far away from home as Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Canada. Mark G's talents do not stop at being a comedic genius, he has also been involved in professional print modeling and acting. Some of Mark G's more famous print modeling clients were Eddie Bauer, Kodak Film, Apple Computers, Nike, and Bank of America. Mark G has also performed lead roles in the sitcom pilot "Courthouse Square" and the feature film "Golde. "

Strikingly brilliant headliner comedian Mike E. has not slowed down since his debut on The Late Show With David Letterman and most recently winning a reoccurring role on NBC's The Office. Whether its hardships or love, you're gonna get it served honestly from this charismatic Baltimore native who got his comedy  start in California's state capitol. When asked, why Sacramento? He says, "If they want you, they 'll find you. " And they have, his success is rapidly rising and you may have seen him on Showtime's Comics Without Borders or Comedy Central's Live at Gotham. Yuba College partners with Peach Tree Country Club on Saturday, November 15 to bring the largest Interactive Murder Mystery Comedy Dinner Show in the United States, The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show to our local community. The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery dinner Show was voted 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 "Best Dinner Show" in Los Angeles and Denver. Having worked in the professional theater, TV and film industries for over 20 years, these collection of actors and producers have mastered the art of improvisational theatrical role playing and have ultimately created the perfect evening of entertainment. By hiding actors among  the customers and leaving everyone to suspect who is part of the show and who is not, with intriguing scenarios, challenging mysteries and amazing dinner provided by the Peach Tree Country Club, it will be a night to remember!

The last event of the Fall Series is a Holiday Concert with the Boston Brass on Saturday, December 6. For 27 years, Boston Brass has set out to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience. From exciting classical arrangements, to burning jazz standards, and the best of the original brass quintet repertoire, Boston Brass treats audiences to a unique brand of entertainment, which captivates all ages. The ensemble's lively repartee, touched with humor and personality, attempts to bridge the ocean of classical formality to delight audiences in an evening of great music and boisterous fun. The philosophy of Boston  Brass is to provide audiences with a wide selection of musical styles in unique arrangements, provided in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Through over 100 performances each year, the members of Boston Brass play to audiences at concerts, educational venues and jazz festivals. In addition to solo performances, Boston Brass regularly performs with orchestras, bands, organ, jazz bands and a variety of other ensembles. They have performed in 49 states and 30 countries and have conducted master classes around the world including sessions and residencies at the Eastman School of Music, The Julliard School, Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Peabody Conservatory of Music, University of North Texas, Royal Academy of Music in London, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory at the National University of Singapore and Mahidol University in Bangkok.

Boston Brass has been featured on The CBS Early Show, National Public Radio's Performance Today, The Great American Brass Band Festival and has recorded several diverse albums. Latin Nights, their latest offering, features a collection of some of the greatest classical and jazz works by Latin composers and performers and features the legendary drummer Steve Gadd, the beautiful voice of Talita Real, percussion and guitar.

Boston Brass has two holiday recordings, Christmas  Bells are Swingin', and The Stan Kenton Christmas Carols, featuring the Boston Brass All-Stars Big Band playing the truly phenomenal charts made popular by the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Boston Brass tours a vibrant holiday show each year featuring many of the charts from these two albums, combined with a variety of solo and combo selections and some fun surprises, which has quickly established the show as a perennial audience favorite.
