ATTENTION ALL MILITARY-CONNECTED STUDENTS:

  • Student information via telephone will not be disclosed.  Student MUST show ID before personal information can be discussed.
  • FERPA form must be on file prior to any discussion with spouse, dependent or parents of students.
  • Complete Declaration of Enrollment Form (green sheet) and submit each semester.
  • 2.0 or lower GPA is reported to VA by school certifying official.
  • Immediately report courses added or dropped to avoid under/over payments.

Chapter 33 – Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008

  • Required to provide school certifying official Certificate of Eligibility Letter from VA stating student is approved to attend Yuba College
  • MHA (Military Housing Allowance) payments as follows:
    • 0 – 6 units = NO ALLOWANCE
    • 5 – 8 units = ½ Time
    • 9 – 11units = ¾ Time
    • 12 or more units = Full Time
  • Current payment rates
  • Must have at least one face-to-face course to receive full MHA payment.
  • Required to apply for CA Promise Grant every year
    • Inform certifying official immediately if denied

Chapter 31 – Vocational Rehabilitation for Qualifying Disabled Veterans

  • VocRehab Counselor must send a PO through the Tungsten Authorization system to school certifying official each semester
    • Student cannot be certified prior to receiving the PO
  • Will receive books & supplies after your Voc Rehab Counselor has provided PO to the Yuba College Bookstore
  • Not required to provide Certificate of Eligibility Letter from VA

Chapter 30 – Montgomery GI Bill®    and      Chapter 1606 – Selected Reserves

  • Required to provide school certifying official Certificate of Eligibility Letter from VA stating student is approved to attend Yuba College
  • Student Must call VA every month to report time attended (877) 823-2378 or www.gibill.va.gov (WAVE)
  • Current payment rates
  • No tuition & fees or book stipend option

Chapter 35 – Dependents’ and Survivors Benefit 

  • Required to provide school certifying official Certificate of Eligibility Letter from VA stating student is approved to attend Yuba College
  • Receive monthly stipend (rates change annually)
