The President-Elect will allow one week after announcing a position opening for faculty to express interest via email or by speaking to the President-Elect. If only one person is interested in a position, that person will be appointed. If multiple people express interest, they will be asked to complete a brief online application. A team comprised of the Academic Senate President, President-Elect, and a senator will decide which applicant is most qualified for the position. Prior to each decision, the President-Elect will ask the Senate for a volunteer to serve on the team, ideally a senator with a relevant background. For example, a Part-Time Representative would be the best senator to decide a part-time faculty position, and a STEM Representative would be the best senator to decide a STEM committee seat. For positions on search committees and tenure evaluation committees, the team will give preference to applicants from a different Division. The term limit for the State Senate Liaison is three years. The team’s decision will be announced at the next Senate meeting.
