Why Automotive Technology is a great career field:

Belonging to school like Yuba College allows a student to get greater insight and experience into the automotive career field.  It is more than a workplace, but a place you can grow.  If you enjoy working with your hands and repairing things, it can be very satisfying to see a customer happy.  You will never be without a job with these skills.  You can continually grow through new education and you should never get bored in this field.

Advice:

Always be willing to learn.  You need to be current, continually learning and adapt to change well.  You need to be passionate about learning and growing.  The new cars you see on the roads today will continue to change.  Right now they are working on technology you will see on the road in 2 years.

Things I like to do outside of work:

I like the outdoors and living in the mountains.  I enjoy spending time in the mountains and the desert.  I love to fish and ride off road motorcycles.  I love winter sports like snowmobiling and like summer activities like kayaking, and water skiing.  I enjoy travelling.  Currently my wife and I own Burney Mountain Guest Ranch located by Burney Falls outside of Redding, which allows for fishing, hiking, hunting and other outdoor recreation.

Experience:

45 years of experience in automotive technology, 36 years of experience teaching, owned own automotive repair business, and worked as a welder/fabricator and a machine manufacturing experience.  I have also taught welding/fabrication.
