Going into his 23rd season at Yuba College, Coach Doug Cornelius<\/strong>\u00a0is no longer rebuilding the Yuba College Basketball program. Now he has the yearly task of keeping the\u00a049’ers<\/em> as one of the top programs in all of California as well as the Nation.<\/p>\n

In the past 22 seasons the 49’ers<\/em> have established themselves as a state contender by going a combined\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0520-173 <\/strong>(75% winning percentage) overall and <\/strong>316-41 (88.5 win %) in the Bay Valley Conference with 16 Bay Valley Conference Titles!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coach Cornelius has a wide variety of experience including 28 years at the Community College level, 3 years in the WNBA with the Sacramento Monarchs, 2 years as a Video Coordinator\/Scout with the Sacramento Kings and 15 years coaching in the Sacramento Pro Developmental League (SPDL)<\/p>\n

Things you should know about “Coach Corn”–<\/strong><\/p>\n

-Has coached 28 years in California Community College-
\n-Six as an assistant at American River College and the last 22 as head coach of the Yuba College 49ers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

-During those 28 years Coach Corn has won 19<\/strong> Bay Valley Conference Titles and made 8 CCCMBCA State Championship “Elite 8” appearances as well as making the California Community College “State Championship” game in 2012 and a “Final Four” in 2024.<\/p>\n

-Coach Corn has been named Bay Valley Conference<\/strong> “Coach of the Year” 15 times and was the California Community College<\/strong> “Coach of the Year” in 2012.<\/p>\n

-Festus Ezeli who spent two years at Yuba College under Coach Cornelius learning the game and training as a grey-shirt, won a World Championship in 2015 with the Golden State Warriors of the NBA!!<\/p>\n

-Made the WNBA Western Conference finals 2 of the 3 years he coached with the Sacramento Monarchs.<\/p>\n

-Has already placed over 40 Yuba College Men’s Basketball players at Division 1<\/strong><\/u> schools across the country<\/p>\n

-32 Players from Yuba College Men’s Basketball have signed Pro Basketball Contracts since 2002 all over the world!<\/p>\n

-The teams he coached in the Summer Pro Development League featured Sacramento Kings players like- Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia, Matt Barnes, Donte Green, Jason Thompson and Bobby Jackson. It also includes former King Ron Artest and some former Yuba 49’ers who are currently playing professionally overseas.<\/p>\n

-Former players Jon Sheets coached D1 at the U of Maine, and Achoki Moikubu is currently an assistant coach at Texas Tech University. Akachi Okugo has been an assistant with the Sacramento Kings, G league Stockton Kings and is currently an assistant with the Egyptian National team. Matt Otten currently coaches professionally in the Netherlands and is an assistant for the Dutch National team and Yev Dyachenko holds his FIBA scout license and works as an International basketball scout\/agent.<\/p>\n

Coach Cornelius has been married to his wife Victoria for 27 years and have 2 children.<\/p>\n

Maggie- (22), was a 3-sport athlete at Woodcreek HS and currently on the coaching staff for the Boise State Women’s Basketball program as a graduate assistant after spending 3 years as the lead manager.\u00a0 She graduated Boise State Magna Cum Laude with her degree in Education.<\/p>\n

Cooper- (18) and was 2- sport athlete at Woodcreek HS playing baseball and basketball and is now playing basketball and baseball at Yuba College for his dad.<\/p>\n

Victoria- was a standout basketball player at Fullerton Community College and UC Riverside and is currently the Academic Athletic Counselor at Sacramento City College.<\/p>\n

Coach Cornelius has an overall record at Yuba College of 520-173. A 75% winning percentage.<\/p>\n

This is an average of 23.6 wins a season and places Coach Cornelius in the Top 20 for All time for wins in California Community College Men’s Basketball History.<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n
