Our program started as a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program in 1952, this was the first year legislation allowed for the starting LVN programs. The first class came into the program with previous medical experience such as a Certified nursing assistant (CNA). They took a 64-hour long course to prepare them for the LVN level.<\/p>\n

In 1954 our year long LVN program was started. This allowed for those with no previous experience to enter the program.<\/p>\n

From 1952-1954 about 120 students graduated from the Yuba College Vocational Program.<\/p>\n

In 1986 the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to Registered Nurse (RN) step-up program was initiated. In addition, the LVN program expanded from 30 to 45 students.<\/p>\n

In 1993 the generic Associate Degree in Nursing Program (ADN) started. Initially 40 and 50 students were admitted on alternating years. The program began and has remained a 4 semester program with approximately 40 units of prerequisite work and co-requisites in addition to the nursing course work.<\/p>\n

For several years 26 LVN and 40 ADN students admitted each fall and graduated each May.<\/p>\n

In 1999 the ADN program expanded to 60 students a year. This remained the same with the exception of 2006 in which state funding allowed us to expand to 70 students a year.<\/p>\n

Currently our program admits 60 students a year 30 each spring and 30 each fall into our ASN program. We offer an LVN to RN Career Mobility program each semester based on space availability.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
