Course Title<\/strong>: FIRTC 67 \u2013\u00a0 Basic Wildland Firefighter
\nSchedule: Fridays 1700-2100, Saturdays 0800-1700, Sundays 0800-1700<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Description<\/strong>: This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the entry-level fire fighter to recognize hazards and unsafe situations; don, doff, and maintain wildland personal protective equipment; deploy a fire shelter; maintain suppression hand tools and equipment; assemble and prepare for response; construct and secure a fire line; reduce the threat of fire exposure to improved properties; and mop up and patrol a fire area when working with wildland fires. The curriculum is based on State Fire Marshal FF 1-C (Wildland) course plan, and 2012 edition NFPA 1051 Standard for Wildland Firefighter Professional Qualifications. This course is designed to provide graduates with employment opportunities with Cal Fire or other agencies that accept this level of training.<\/div>\n

Upon completion, cadets will receive the following certificates:
\nS-130 Firefighter Training,
\nS-131 Firefighter Type 1,
\nS-190 Intro to Wildland Fire Behavior,
\nL-180 Human Resources,
\nS-212 Bench Class,
\nCalFire Orientation,
\nFirefighter 1C and Wildland Firefighter Safety and Survival.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BASIC WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 1. <\/span>Complete Basic Wildland academy application and submit via email to dcoats@yccd.edu<\/a>. Ensure you receive a confirmation email that your application was received.\u00a0 Incomplete applications will not be accepted.\u00a0 Please note, acceptance to the academy will be on a first come, first serve basis, so please get your applications in as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/span> Create or update Open CCC application and apply to Yuba College for Spring 2026 semester as a new or returning student. See registration link for new students here: Apply Now – Yuba College (yccd.edu)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>Priority Registration: Priority Registration – Yuba College (yccd.edu)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Step 3. <\/span>Review program costs and fees and apply for financial aid if needed\/eligible, Financial Aid – Yuba College (yccd.edu)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Step 4. <\/span>Await confirmation of acceptance into the academy. Acceptance letter will provide information regarding items to purchase and tasks to complete.<\/p>\n

Step 5.<\/span> Complete your registration checklist to register and enroll in FIRTC 67 through your Yuba College student account.<\/p>\n

Step 6. <\/span>Complete medical clearance: Basic Wildland Medical Clearance Release<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Step 7. <\/span>Purchase uniforms, Personal Protective equipment, PT clothing, and books (list of requirements will be provided with acceptance letter)<\/p>\n

Step 8. <\/span>Prepare for academy start<\/p>\n

CAL FIRE BASIC PROGRAM COSTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Material and Uniform Costs<\/span><\/p>\n

Some personal protective equipment will be provided by the Academy, with the exception of: footwear, hoods, and gloves (for health reasons). Students must also provide their own uniforms. Specifications and vendors for these items will be provided upon being accepted for enrollment in the Academy.\u00a0 The Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) may be able to assist with these costs, please reach out here: Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) | Yuba College<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Financial Aid<\/span><\/p>\n

Some students may be eligible to receive financial aid. Both Board of Governor\u2019s Fee Waivers and Federal Financial Assistance may be viable options for students seeking assistance. Books<\/span><\/p>\n

FIRTC 67\u00a0 books will be available for purchase online and at the Yuba College Bookstore. Details will be made available in the Acceptance Letter. Once accepted and enrolled into the course, go to the course link in your Yuba College login and the books assigned to the academy will be linked to your course registration. Fees<\/span><\/p>\n

Enrollment fees, as set by the California State Legislature, are $46 per unit for California residents and are subject to change. Students will be responsible for the difference in enrollment fees if such changes are enacted by the Legislature. The total cost for the BWF academy is approximately $1,016.00.<\/p>\n
