Requirements:<\/p>\n

This POST-certified, 160-<\/span>hour minimum course serves two purposes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Three-Year Requalification*<\/strong>
    \nThis course is available to individuals who have successfully completed a POST-certified Regular or Specialized Investigators\u2019 Basic Course<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>or have a three-year or longer break in qualifying employment from a California law enforcement employer for which the position required completion of Regular Basic Course (RBC) or Specialized Investigators\u2019 Basic Course (SIBC) training.<\/span><\/span> Individuals who previously completed the Basic Course Waiver<\/span><\/span><\/span> (BCW)<\/span><\/span><\/span> process in its entirety may also requalify their <\/span><\/span><\/span>BCW one time<\/span><\/span><\/span> within the <\/span>initial<\/span> 6 years after issuance of the waiver.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Basic Course Waiver Assessment Process<\/strong>
    \nAfter an evaluation has been approved by POST, the <\/span><\/span>BCW applicant must complete the <\/span><\/span><\/span>requalification course <\/span><\/span>as Step 3 of the Basic Course Waiver process.<\/span><\/span><\/span> The student must provide a letter from POST <\/span>indicating<\/span> their <\/span><\/span><\/span>eligibility<\/span><\/span><\/span> to attend Requalification as part of the BCW process.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    *Six-Year Exception: Individuals who successfully completed the RBC, SIBC, or Basic Course Waiver process on or after July 1, 1999\u00a0but who never served in a position for which a Regular or Specialized Investigators’ Basic Course\u00a0<\/strong>was required by law, may requalify by completing the POST Requalification Course one time within six years from the date of basic course or waiver process completion. After six years, those individuals must complete the appropriate basic course (RBC or SIBC) to requalify, regardless of when the Requalification Course was completed.<\/p>\n
