This spot was originally selected for a nuclear power plant but was eventually abandoned due to proximity to the active faults.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE FOR TRANSFER<\/h2>\n<p>Associate in Science degree in Environmental Science for Transfer (AS-T) is intended to provide students with the first two years of core curriculum leading to a bachelor\u2019s degree in Environmental Science at a California State University. This interdisciplinary field focuses on how humans interact with their surroundings. Careers in environmental science include conducting research or advising policy at government agencies (such as the National Park Service or Environmental Protection Agency), environmental consulting, or conducting health<br \/>\ninspections.<\/p>\n<h5>To earn this AS-T degree, students must meet the following Associate in Science Degree for Transfer requirements (pursuant to SB 1440 law):<\/h5>\n<p>\u2022 Completion of 60-semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to California State University. The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) for STEM or the California State University General Education-Breadth for STEM.<br \/>\n\u2022 A minimum of 18-semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.<br \/>\n\u2022 Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.<br \/>\n\u2022 Earn a \u201cC\u201d or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis or a \u2018P\u201d if the course is taken on a pass\/no pass basis.<\/p>\n<h5>Students who complete this program should be able to:<\/h5>\n<p>1. Demonstrate an understanding of topics revolving around the interactions between humans and their environment. This could be illustrated by knowledge of species interactions, natural cycles, environmental issues, or other topics.<br \/>\n2. Apply the scientific method by creating or assessing hypotheses, conducting experiments, correctly analyzing and interpreting data, and effectively communicating findings.<br \/>\n3.
