The Umoja/Black Students’ Union is committed to the academic success, personal growth, and development of students of African Ancestry as well as other students of diverse ancestries with the emphasis on first-year college students.
Umoja is a Kiswahili word meaning “Unity”

Grits and Grades – Wednesday’s, January 22, February 19, March 18 & April 22 from 10-11:30am Yuba College Staff Lounge in the Cafeteria – The Umoja Program will be preparing and serving FREE breakfast for students. Come and meet some of your instructors. Discuss your academic goals, aspirations and challenges while enjoying a warm breakfast.
Event in the Community – Black History Month Kick-Off Celebration: Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 12pm-6pm at Bethel AMIE Church, 115 5th Street, Marysville CA 95901. Celebrate the rich heritage that is black history.
Men’s & Women’s Health Conference – Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 9am-1pm Yuba College Cafeteria – Join the Yuba College Umoja Program and Club for a community event focusing on all aspects of health in the African American community. click here to RSVP
Black to School Day – Wednesday, April 8, 2020 from 8:30-1:30 pm Yuba College Cafeteria – 3rd through 8th grade students of African ancestry are invited to participate in our ACADEMIC RAILROAD. Join us for an exciting day on the Yuba College campus! We want your child to experience a day in college, take a campus tour, visit classrooms and the support service programs that college students use every week to maximize their success.
