Course Outline: Designed to provide the basic concepts and skills for “entry level” Probation Officer, including overall mission, role and function in the California Juvenile and Adult Justice System; major tasks and responsibilities; and competency in various knowledge and skill requirements. Meets California Corrections Standards Authority, Division of Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) requirements for “entry level” Probation Officers.

Course Dates:  one week in-person on campus, four weeks with online lecture option

Monday, February 23 — Friday, February 27 (Spring 2026)
(Attendance at Yuba College for DTAC)

  • Address: 2088 North Beale Road, Maryville CA 95901, Bldg 2100, Room 2148
  • Lab/DTAC Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 5 days, 1/2 hour lunch breaks
  • White, black or navy/dark blue comfortable T-Shirt
  • Sweatpants only; no shorts.  Sweatpants should be loose fitted with elastic bands at ankles; no spandex yoga leggings

Monday, Monday, March 2 — Thursday, March 26 (Spring 2026)
(Broadcast Lecture)

  • Students will be required to have a computer with both audio and video capability (it is recommended that cellphones not be used)
  • Students must ensure they have access to a reliable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth to support both Zoom and the Canvas classroom
  • Students in one classroom training remotely must have headphones
  • Upon enrollment students will receive CCCConfer.zoom.us link for all course sessions – 100% attendance
  • Students will be expected to dress business casual during zoom class
  • Student has the option to also attend face-to-face, room 2148
  • Lecture Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 19 days, 30-minute lunch breaks
  • All documents and assignments will be accessed by using Canvas; access available upon enrollment:  https://yccd.instructure.com/login/ldap
  • Students must have access to Microsoft Word or a similar program to complete assignments in the online Canvas classroom

Course Fees:

  • California Resident $46.00 unit x 9 units = $414.00
  • Student Fee for semester = $10.00 (one time each semester)
  • If parking is charged this semester, personal vehicle parking decal for DTAC training  = $10.00 (kiosk in parking lot)
  • Yuba College uniform purchase IS NOT required.
