FIRTC 1 – Fire  Protection & Emergency Services   (ONLINE)

Introduction to fire protection, this course provides an overview to fire protections an emergency service; career opportunities in fire protection and related fields; philosophy and history of fire protection; fire loss analysis; organization and function of public and private fire protection services; fire department as part of local government; laws and regulations affecting the fire service; fire service nomenclature; specific fire protection functions; basic fire chemistry and physics; introduction to fire protection systems; introductions to fire strategy and tactics.

FIRTC 2 – Fire Prevention Technology   (ONLINE)

This course provides fundamental knowledge relating to the field of fire prevention. Topics include the history and philosophy of fire prevention; organization and operation of a fire prevention bureau; use and application of codes and standards; plans review; fire inspections; fire and life safety education; and fire investigation.

FIRTC 3 – Fire Protection & Equipment   (ONLINE) 

Provides information relating to the features of design and operation of fire detection and alarm systems, heat and smoke control systems, special protection and sprinkler systems, water supply for fire protection and portable fire extinguishers.

FIRTC 4 – Building Construction  (ONLINE)

This course provides the components of building construction related to firefighter and life safety. The elements of construction and design of structures are shown to be key factors when inspecting buildings, preplanning fire operations, and operating at emergencies.

FIRTC 5 – Fire Behavior and Combustion   (ONLINE)

Theory and fundamentals of how and why fires start, spread, and are controlled; an in-depth study of fire chemistry and physics, fire characteristics of materials, extinguishing agents, and fire control techniques.

FIRTC 6 – Principles of Fire & Emergency Safety/Survival

This course introduces the basic principles and history related to national firefighter life safety initiatives and studies the cultural and behavioral evolution of the fire service over time to now include a focus on mental and physical health and well-being.
