Students entering the Veterinary Technology Program will need to earn a minimum average GPA of 2.5 in the prerequisite courses PRIOR to final acceptance into the Veterinary Technology Program. Courses must be completed or in progress at the time of application.

It is strongly recommended that the MCOMM  40 (Introduction to Online Learning) course be completed prior to Program admission to ensure optimal learning in our Veterinary Technology online courses.

#2. Print and Complete the Application

Instructions

This application should be filled out legibly and in black or blue ink. Do not leave any blank spaces. If you are currently enrolled in one of the prerequisite courses you should mark the application with an ‘IP’ where it asks for grade.

The Program starts a new class cohort each year in August. Applications must be received by March 15th each year to be eligible to start the Program in August (Fall semester).

#3. Write the Essay

With the application and transcripts please submit type-written narrative (maximum of two pages) on the following topic:

Describe your academic goals and why you have chosen the Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program. Include in your essay why you feel you are a good candidate for this Program and what you plan to do in a future career as a Registered Veterinary Technician.

#4. Obtain Official College Transcripts

Contact all colleges you have attended and request copies of your official transcripts be sent to you. Include these UNOPENED official transcripts with your application packet. If you have only taken courses at Yuba College, official transcripts are not required to be provided.

#5. Submit the Completed Application Packet

Please mail all the above in one large manila envelope to the following address:

Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program
Attn: Application Administrator
2088 N Beale Road
Marysville, CA 95901

You may also submit the application in person to one of the instructors in the 1700 building (located across the street from the Veteran’s Resource Center)

Applications will be accepted year round and filed according to date received. Only complete Veterinary Technology packets will be reviewed. Selection of candidates for entry into the Veterinary Technology Program occurs each spring, therefore, any packet that is received after March 15th of each year may not be included in consideration for the subsequent fall semester. Applications received after March 15th will be dated and placed with the next year applications.

Should the number of qualified applicants exceed the number of available spaces in the class, students will be placed on a list according to their GPA over the last 3 years. The students with the highest GPAs will be accepted to fill the number of available spaces and then a waitlist will be created for the remaining students. If a space becomes available, waitlisted students will be offered admittance to the Program according to their position on the waitlist.

General application to or enrollment at Yuba College does not imply acceptance into the Veterinary Technology Program. Registration for Program courses is not allowed until after the applicant has been notified in writing of official acceptance in the Program. Qualified applicants will be notified of this preliminary acceptance into the Program by April 1st.

Attendance and participation in the Veterinary Technology Program Orientation is a mandatory requirement before final acceptance of a candidate. This orientation, held on a Thursday in April, is a half day exploration into the teaching formats, academic and physical demands, and dexterity requirements that the Veterinary Technology student can expect to encounter on a daily basis in this two-year program.
