#5. Important Supplemental Information

The Program starts a new class cohort each year in August. Applications must be received by March 15th each year to be eligible to start the Program in August (Fall semester).

Applications will be ranked based upon the total number of points earned by each applicant. Please review the rubric, which lists the maximum number of points that can be earned in each category in the application.

Should the number of qualified applicants exceed the number of available spaces in the class, students will be placed on a waitlist based on the ranked order of all applicants. If a space becomes available, waitlisted students will be offered admittance to the Program according to their position on the waitlist.

Applications will be accepted year round and filed according to date received. Only complete Veterinary Technology applications will be reviewed. Selection of candidates for entry into the Veterinary Technology Program occurs each spring, therefore, any application that is received after March 15th may not be included in consideration for the subsequent fall semester. Applications received after March 15th will be dated and placed with the next year applications.

General application to or enrollment at Yuba College does not imply acceptance into the Veterinary Technology Program. Registration for Program courses is not allowed until after the applicant has been notified in writing of official acceptance in the Program. Qualified applicants will be notified of this preliminary acceptance into the Program in early April.

Attendance and participation in the Veterinary Technology Program Orientation is a mandatory requirement before final acceptance of a candidate. This orientation, held in April, is an exploration into the teaching formats, academic and physical demands, and dexterity requirements that the Veterinary Technology student can expect to encounter on a daily basis in this two-year program.
