Why a career in agriculture is a great option:

Agriculture is the original science!  Everyone supports agriculture simply by eating!  There are hundreds of great careers in agriculture that aren’t what you would typically think of (farmer, rancher, vet, teacher)…If you want to work in a lab, a business setting, or outside, agriculture has endless opportunities for you!  Living in California gives students a unique advantage because we are the #1 state in agriculture production!  Yuba and Sutter counties produce nearly all of the almonds and rice that are grown in the United States!  The agriculture program at Yuba College is a great way to start!

Advice:

Sign up for some agriculture classes!  We have classes that also fulfill general education requirements!  Come see that agriculture isn’t just farming…there are so many other opportunities that support these farmers and ranchers!

Things I like to do outside of work:

I also am the Deputy Sector Navigator for Agriculture, Water, and Environmental Technology for the region.  I manage grants that are used to support agriculture students, faculty, and industry around Yuba and Sutter counties.  I enjoy teaching people about agriculture and the endless opportunities that are out there to provide the best food possible for the world!  My husband and I live in south Sutter County and have two children.

Education/Credentials:

B.S. in Agricultural Business; Concentration in Sales and Marketing from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Agriculture from U.C. Davis.

M.S. in Agricultural Education from Chico State.
