Riley Hang selected to represent Yuba College for State Chancellor’s Office Classified Employee of the Year Award

(March 21, 2025) Marysville, CA – Yuba College’s Riley Hang Instructional Associate for College Success was nominated by her peers and selected by the Yuba Community College District Board to represent YCCD at the State Chancellor’s Employee of the Year (CEOY) Awards.

Hang serves as part of Yuba College’s tutoring team and is known for consistently going above and beyond to create a supportive environment, ensuring students have the resources and confidence they need to succeed. Her passion for student success makes her a valued member in the Yuba College community.

“I am really touched. I believe that recognition is important as everyone genuinely wants to make a difference, especially those who work in education,” said Hang. “To be recognized for my small contributions really means so much. This nomination also motivates me to keep it up, to continue to push myself to do better, do more.” Hang credits the people around her — both students and colleagues — as her greatest source of inspiration. “I am constantly impressed by the grit of our incredible students, and my fellow YCCD employees and their constant willingness to go above and beyond,” she said.

Hang’s dedication to Yuba College and its students is “unmatched,” said Dr. Jeremy Brown, vice president of Instruction.

“[Hang] goes above and beyond to ensure students feel supported, connected and empowered to succeed. Her leadership has improved our student support services, creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” he said. “This recognition is a testament to her hard work, professionalism and the positive impact she on our campus and beyond.”

Hang’s recognition highlights Yuba College’s ongoing commitment to supporting student success and excellence. CEOY Awards have been presented annually since 2009, honoring outstanding employees for their professionalism, dedication and contribution to their schools and organizations.

Alongside Hang, YCCD Board of Trustees recognized two additional employees in their regular March meeting who were also selected are their site’s representative for the CEOY awards. Those individuals are: Charlene Eckels – Woodland Community College Jessica Gaytan – District Office The Foundation of California Community Colleges provides a grant to support these awards and recognitions. Each recipient receives a cash prize and a plaque to commemorate their accomplishments. The winners will be announced at the 2025 California Community Colleges Board of Governors meeting on May 20.
