(May 29) MARYSVILLE, Calif. — Yuba College and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) held a ribbon cutting on May 28 for an outdoor Fitness Court® and digital wellness programming at Yuba College’s Marysville campus.

This Fitness Court® was developed by Yuba College and NFC to expand fitness opportunities for its Public Safety programs, offering fitness opportunities on campus for both the college and broader community. The Fitness Court® is the world’s best outdoor gym that allows users to leverage their body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations and has accessible access pathways.

Created for individuals of all abilities aged 14 and over, the Fitness Court® workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users may also download the free Fitness Court® App, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.

“As a part of our commitment to high-quality programming for our students, the Fitness Court expands our options for police and fire cadets to get in and stay in the kind of shape necessary to be ready for the work they’ll do in industry after graduation,” said Yuba College Public Safety Director Mark Covington.

Yuba College Dean Alan Dixon, who oversees the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Workforce Development, agreed.

“The Fitness Court being open to our broader college and community is an
added bonus that will continue to support our cultural commitment to the environment we are creating at Yuba College,” Dixon said.

“We are excited to have Yuba College join us in the journey to improve health and wellness as we work to make a powerful and long-lasting impact on health outcomes and happiness by building healthy communities across America,’’ said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign. “The addition of the outdoor Fitness Court, along with digital wellness programming, demonstrates a tremendous commitment to the health and well-being within Marysville and the Yuba-Sutter region.”

Yuba College offers robust training opportunities in its Public Safety programming, including academy, degree and certificate programs in administration of justice and fire technology that can lead to careers in law enforcement and fire service.
