(July 8, 2025) MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Dr. Samantha Dana has been hired as the new vice president of instruction at Yuba College and has assumed her role as of Monday, July 7. Her appointment was approved by the Yuba Community College District Board of Trustees.
Dana joins Yuba College from Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, Washington, where she served as associate vice president for institutional effectiveness. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts, a master’s degree in government analytics from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate in adult and higher education from Oregon State University.
“Samantha’s research in Hispanic-Serving Institutions and her experience leading colleges in Guided Pathways align well with the work our college is doing and the work we need to do in the coming years,” said Dr. Tawny Dotson, president of Yuba College. “Her experience as a former research director will help us use data to better serve our students, and her years as an accreditation liaison officer will ensure she can step right into our accreditation visit in September.”
At Yuba College, Dana will lead all instructional programs, as well as support areas such as the library, tutoring, institutional research, dual enrollment, scheduling and educational services. She will also oversee the college’s on- and off-campus relationships with organizations and contractors, including the bookstore.
“This is an exciting time to be joining Yuba College as it grows in service to the Yuba-Sutter communities. I look forward to working with faculty and staff to support growth, innovation and quality in our instructional offerings,” said Dana.
Dana has served at community colleges in Washington and Massachusetts. Her previous roles include associate vice president, director, interim chief human resources officer and Guided Pathways coach for the state. She also continues to serve as a grant writer, supporting colleges in the federal grant process.
