PineNut Necklace Workshop

PineNut Necklace Workshop (limited to 20 students)
10am-2pm, Identity and Engagement Center
The California People have always used their natural surroundings
for food, tools, clothing and for every aspect of their daily life.
Like all cultures, American Indian People like to adorn their clothing
and themselves with hats, necklaces and other items. They made
their adornments from items that were used as ‘barter’ or ‘money.’
Shells, beads, seeds and animal parts were the valuable items. For
California People items would be Olivera shells, pinenuts,
dentalium, cedar berries and doug fir branchlets.
Students will make a necklace from pinenuts, beads and the
centerpiece of the pinecone.

The event is finished.
