The Social Science Division is staffed by full-time professors dedicated to innovative, quality teaching and learning. We offer progressive instruction using the latest technology including Internet and Distance Education.
Transfer and general education classes offered through the division are Anthropology (Cultural), Economics (Macro and Micro), Psychology (General, Social, Gender, Sexual, Lifespan), History (American, World, Native American, California), Philosophy (Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Religion, Ethics), Early Childhood Education, Ethnic Studies (Asian, African, Mexican and Native American Studies), Political Science, Social Science and Humanities (General, World Religions). The division also offers two certificate programs through the Human Services department — Chemical Dependency Awareness and Chemical Dependency Counseling.
Courses are taught at the main Marysville campus and at other outreach locations throughout the Yuba-Sutter area, in day and evening formats. Both full-semester and short-term, 9-week classes and regular 6-week Summer Session are currently taught. Several interactive TV classes bring quality offerings to satellite campuses in Colusa, Woodland and Lake County, and are available on local cable.
The division office is staffed with a full-time secretary and the Dean, and is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Full-time professors hold daily office hours to meet their students’ needs. A pilot program for part-time instructors holding office hours is also being implemented this semester.
