The Yuba College Promise Program pays tuition for ALL new, first-time, full-time college students up to 15 units per semester!

Who is eligible?

All first-time college students, including students who earned college units while still in high school who:

  • are California Residents or AB540 eligible
  • complete a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application 
  • enroll in 12 or more units during main terms (fall and spring terms)
    • Students With Disabilities: A student enrolled in fewer than 12 units may be deemed “full time” if the student has been certified as “full time” by a staff person in the DSPS program who is qualified to make such a designation. Please contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss this option.

Is this program free for all students?

Yes, this program is not awarded on the basis of financial need. Yuba College students qualify for free tuition for up to 15 units per semester for up to two years.

Note: If the students have 15.5 units or more they will be responsible for the tuition difference.

What is covered?

The Promise program covers tuition for 12-15 units per semester for the first two years of enrollment.

Only fall and spring terms are covered. Summer is not eligible for the Yuba College Promise.

Note: Students need to re-apply for FAFSA/DreamAct for the second year of assistance. Applications open annually on October 1.

Are student fees such as health and course material fees covered?

No, the student’s are responsible for health fees, course material fees, books, etc.

How will tuition be paid?

Once eligibility is determined, students’ fees will be waived 1-2 weeks after the semester Census Date. No direct cash disbursements will occur.

The Promise program covers students’ tuition for the first two years at Yuba College. Enroll today!

Students must re-apply for the second year via the FAFSA/CADAA, which opens up annually on October 1

How do students maintain program eligibility?

  1. Students must complete 12 units with a 2.0 minimum at the end of each main term (fall and spring)
    • The tuition waiver will be terminated furthermore if the student does meet the above referred program requirements.
  2. Students must re-apply for the second year via the FAFSA/CADAA, which opens up annually on October 1
